About the Journal
Aim:
Land and Architecture is an interdisciplinary journal dedicated to exploring the complex relationships between the built environment, landscape, and human society. The journal’s primary aim is to promote critical and creative discourse on the transformation of land and space through architectural, urban, and territorial interventions. It seeks to advance both theoretical and applied knowledge at the intersection of architecture, landscape design, urban planning, and environmental studies, with a strong emphasis on sustainable and context-sensitive approaches to spatial development in diverse geographical and cultural settings.
Scope:
Land and Architecture welcomes original research articles, critical reviews, and other scholarly contributions that investigate the interconnections between land, environment, and architectural practices. The journal covers, but is not limited to, the following areas:
- Architecture and Territory: Studies on how architecture shapes and responds to the physical, social, and cultural dimensions of the territory. Contributions may include research on rural and urban morphologies, site-specific design, and spatial narratives.
- Landscape and Environmental Design: Exploration of landscape architecture and ecological planning, including green infrastructure, restoration of natural systems, and integration of natural processes into design strategies.
- Urbanism and Spatial Planning: Research on urban form, public space, mobility, zoning, and governance of the urban environment. Includes critical analysis of urbanization processes and planning practices, particularly in emerging and transitional contexts.
- Sustainable and Regenerative Design: Investigations into low-impact architecture, climate-responsive design, and circular strategies in the use of materials, energy, and resources.
- Cultural and Historical Landscapes: Studies addressing the preservation, reinterpretation, and transformation of heritage sites, vernacular architecture, and cultural landscapes in relation to contemporary needs.
- Theory and Criticism in Architecture and Landscape: Essays and studies that reflect on conceptual, aesthetic, philosophical, or ethical dimensions of architecture and landscape practice, including cross-cultural and postcolonial perspectives.
- Technological Innovations and Digital Practices: Contributions on the role of technology in shaping the built environment, including parametric design, geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and digital fabrication in land and architectural studies.
- Climate, Resilience, and the Built Environment: Research on the intersection of climate change, risk, resilience, and adaptive design, with a focus on vulnerable environments and communities.
- Interdisciplinary Approaches: Works that bridge architecture, landscape, sociology, geography, environmental science, and art to enrich the understanding of spatial practices and their broader impacts.
Visibility and Open Access:
The journal follows an open access model, which maximizes the visibility of published articles.
Frequency of publication:
The journal follows a continuous publication model, where articles after acceptance are typeset and published in a single volume per year. Therefore, the call for submissions is permanently open.
Speed of publication:
The journal manages the following times of the editorial process: 5 days for the first response from the section editor or pass to peer review; 30 to 45 days responses from the editor on the observations of peer reviewers; 5 to 7 days in layout, metadata uploading and publication on the journal's site.
The editorial team combines rigorous peer review with the efficient timing of the editorial process, which is done exclusively in electronic format.
Promotion and dissemination strategy:
The journal develops a strategy to promote and position published articles on social networks and web platforms, which contributes to increase exposure and access to the articles.
